• This quaint village is full of New England charm and rich history. Southport was one of the leading ports in the 1800’s, shipping produce like onions, carrots, and potatoes from local farms to areas like New York and beyond. It soon became one of the most prosperous and prestigious communities, building banks, schools, shops, churches, and train station.

Events

• Pequot Library is located in a historic building on Pequot Avenue and holds hundreds of annual events and programs. Some favorites include the bike parade, Derby Day, Yoga on the Lawn, and their book sale which occurs 4 times a year.
• The annual “Rooms with a View” design event is hosted by the Southport Congregational Church. Every year in November, 12 designers are invited to create a 6′ x 8′ vignette – mini rooms staged in the library and great hall of the church, with proceeds benefitting various charities.
• The Southport Garden Stroll is also a town favorite that happens every summer and benefits the Pequot Library. Select homeowners open up their gardens and yards to the public for flora and fauna viewing.
